6 Essential Design Tips to Develop Phenomenal Mobile Apps

What constitutes a great app design? Well, if your application looks nice and it is intuitive, then and only then can you say that you have created an application that will be loved by many of your users.

App developers should not only think about what features to include in their apps, but they must also focus on the design aspect of their applications as well. Both the functionality and the aesthetics of the app contribute to great overall user experience and if you want people to enjoy what you have developed, you must be able to carry out these things.

Today, I am going to give you some essential design tips to help you develop phenomenal mobile apps.

The Simpler, The Better

Great aesthetics doesn’t mean that your application needs to be too fancy or is filled with many different animations and stuff like that. The premise here is that the simpler the app looks, the better.

Now, you might think that this is something counterintuitive, but it is not. A simple app can be beautiful and it is one that presents features in the best possible way. Remember, the looks of your app are just part of the user experience and the other is being able to grasp the functionalities of your application. So, by designing something so simple that one can easily get a hold of your app’s main functions, that will be great.

Add Layers and Depth

Since Android Lollipop was released, Google has implemented Material Design and has used it in their subsequent Android versions as well.

Basically, the idea of material design is to make the visuals pop out without overwhelming the user. It also helps add depth by using shadows to help differentiate the different elements of the app.

Experiment with Monotone Color Schemes

Mobile app designers are pushing for the use of monotone color schemes to help simplify the app’s aesthetics while also making it visually pleasing as well. Experiment with different colors and text color combinations to find what you think is best for your application.

Consider Implementing Micro-interactions

Micro-interactions often get overlooked but this can actually help you know the pulse of your users. What are micro-interactions, you ask? Well, think about Facebook reactions. This will allow your users to react in the digital world without having to post lengthy statements.

Micro-interactions are great because a lot of users actually love the functionality and if you can somehow incorporate that into your app, then that would be awesome!

The Use of Cards

Now, I did mention that your app’s interface needs to be simple, right? You might think that implementing cards in your app’s UI will make it look convoluted, but the contrary is true.

Implementing different function cards can actually help improve user experience since people can just look at the cards, find the functionality that they like, and then click on it quickly and easily.

Great Navigation

The reason why your app’s interface needs to be simple is so that your users will not have to look for different features within your app. A simple app interface means that they can navigate your app in the easiest way possible.
